- Due to a staph infection that nearly killed him in 2004, leaving him weak, Mr. Grassel can no longer teach full time at Universities. Through diligent practice, he's advanced his musical abilities, but must limit the frequency of his performances due to a slow recovery.

March 10: THE MUNDELEIN INVITATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL, Mundelein, IL. Mundelein High School, 8am. Jack will adjudicate jazz ensembles and perform with the Oak Park River Forest Jazz Ensemble and The Fremont Middle School Jazz Ensemble at the evening concert.

November 3-17: RANCHO LA PUERTA, Tecate, Mexico. Jack w/ith Los Angeles flute virtuoso David Shostac and vocalist Jill Jensen. The trio plays a variety of theme concerts during these two weeks.
